Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are excited to learn at school. After being at home for the summer, some students are excited to go to school and some are worried about school. Even though my first graders have different feelings about school, I want them to feel welcomed and safe at school. Having books that will help them learn and manage their different emotions will allow them to feel safe at school.
If students do not feel safe and happy at school, it is very difficult for them to learn.
They will be able to use the puppets to learn how to regulate their feelings. The magnetic whiteboards will be used to draw and write about their feelings. The other books will be read at the beginning of the school year in order for students to be excited about learning. The file folders will be used to display their work in the classroom in order for students to feel part of the classroom community.
