Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school strives to be a data-driven facility. We have high expectations in literacy, mathematics and technology skills. This year we are undergoing a school transformation which has led to more students and larger class sizes.
The school is located in a poverty stricken area.
Many are of African and Hispanic descent. There is a large number of students who are English Language Learners and specifically one in our class that knows little to no English.
My class is full of outgoing and hardworking individuals. We pride ourselves in trying our best in reading, math, and technology.
My Project
Having a set of iPad Minis will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. Students will be able to use iPads in a listening center where they can engage in audio and visual videos There are all sorts of educational apps for the iPad that allow students to work and excel at their own pace making learning a lot more effective for everyone. They can also create presentations to demonstrate understanding to their peers.
Using iPads is creating an engaged and collaborative learning environment.
Students can take advantage of the iPad as valuable technology in the classroom by utilizing them for group work. The great thing about the iPads in the classroom is that they are a multipurpose learning tool that can appeal to all types of learners.
Allowing my students to have a set of iPad Minis will ensure an engaged learning environment. As a result, students will be better prepared for the future.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
