My Students

I am a first-grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school every day to see the sparkle in their little 5- to 8-year-old eyes. I also get to connect with students of various ages during and after school. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students! We participate in so many fun activities throughout the year, and our hope is to add even more.

My Project

My favorite subject to teach is reading! I love to see how excited my first-graders get when they learn how to read their very first book! It is truly magical and I get to see it over and over with each of my students! We are very excited about this project because it includes 18 of our favorite author's books! WE LOVE DR. SEUSS BOOKS! They are right on our reading level, and they are truly the books that we use to learn to read. We are short on copies of each of these books right now and they FLY off of the shelves. The kids actually race to get them and feel bad when someone else gets there first. Funding this proposal would solve that problem.

We are so excited about the possibility of getting these WONDERFULLY WRITTEN books for our classroom.

Would you, could you read a book? We are so excited about reading all kinds of Dr. Seuss books that are right at our reading level. Getting these new materials would allow ALL of my students to have a copy of a favorite book! The books can be used over and over again in so many literacy-rich ways. We can use them for centers, leveled reading groups, and just for free reading to build stamina.

As you can see I have very carefully planned for every penny of this proposal. The books would be used over and over again from year to year, and will truly result in improved reading ability and fun!
