I Did It! I Can Read That Word!

Help me give my students High Frequency Word Readers and Activities for fun small group instruction!

My Students

Our school is considered a Title I school. Many of the children live in low-income housing, hotels, and could be in shelters. For some, English is their second language and many have experienced traumatic experiences that most of us can hardly comprehend. Some have special needs and each and every student at our school qualifies for free breakfast and free lunch. My students work hard and are eager to learn new ideas and skills.

This year, thank goodness, we are coming back to In-Person learning!

Some of these five-year-old kiddos learned remotely their entire Pre-school year. They are ready for some hands-on, in-person, whole and small group, fun learning!

I hope you can help me help them to have the best start of their educational journey possible!

My Project

When teaching students to read the best way they can learn is in a small group of 3-5 kids, with the teacher targeting those specific skills that particular group needs. Every teacher does this every day. This is the way we reach those struggling readers or challenge those “high flyers”. Some of my kiddos are ready to take literacy to a new level...reading level books! That means introducing high frequency words!

I absolutely love the look on a child's face when they "Get It"?

When their eyes light up and a smile spreads across their face and they say (or yell), "I did it! I can read that word”! I want to use the books and activities in this project during small group instruction. The books will be used in the group portion and the activity sheets will be independent work to extend the lesson. Thank you for supporting education and especially my awesome Little Pandas!
