This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All year long my students have been requesting new books to be added to the classroom library, and I have found that I have no choice but to fulfill their requests. I want to kick it up a notch, however, with a reading challenge, especially with Read Across America Week around the corner. I will be encouraging my students to read at least three books during the month of March. If they are able to complete the task, they will get an incentive. Small incentives will be given out as they switch out for new books as well.
With all of the reading they love to do, I know my students are up for the challenge!
I already have tracking sheets to give them so that when they come to switch out their book, we can put a sticker indicating that they have completed a book already. I really think this will be a fun way to encourage students who are not usually asking to borrow books.
