My Students
Many of the students in my classes struggle with reading. They work diligently every day in an attempt to achieve grade-level reading skills. This is made even more difficult by the conditions in which they live.
Most of the students in my classes come from low-income homes and many are ELL students.
Because of their low level of reading, they don't enjoy the process and the struggle continues. My goal, Language Arts teacher, is to not only help my students achieve grade-level reading skills but also to help them develop a love of reading.
My Project
I am currently teaching from home and don't know when I will be returning to the classroom. Teaching from home is much different and certainly has its own challenges. One of the many difficulties I have experienced is an increased amount of time just sitting in my computer chair in front of my computer monitor either grading papers or teaching my students through Zoom calls. This standing desk would give me the ability to stand when my back and neck start to hurt from sitting too long. I am also requesting a blue tooth headset with a microphone. I need to have a way to block out background noise so I can focus on what my students are saying. This headset will do just that. Thank you for taking the time to support my classroom needs!
