This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Instrumental music has long shown strong links between increased academic performance and social development. In addition to adding a positive experience for students, these links emphasize responsibility, dedication, and grit in students that not many other subjects can emulate.

Every student deserves the chance to experience instrumental music, regardless of their family's income.

I teach at a Title I school where 88% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many students in our school struggle to come up with the resources to participate in band.

My Project

Elementary band classes can often find themselves in weird places. From the classroom to the cafeteria, students perform in a variety of venues. In order to hear instructional aids, such as a metronome and tuning note, we need amplification! In addition, our classroom has been utilizing technology to make music, and we need a speaker to hear it!

A portable speaker will allow us to artistically express ourselves using music and technology wherever we go!

Finding ways for students to express themselves using technology will help us to include more students into our ensemble regardless of income. This speaker will help us to build the capacity to incorporate technological instruments into our ensemble using other technology already available at school.

This technology will not only help our students to create music but will help students to perform on their instruments as well! This will also help us to provide a variety performance opportunities to help our students grow through the arts!
