Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard workers at an urban inner-city school. All of our students get free breakfast and lunch. More than half of my students come from families where English is not the first language and in many cases, school is their only exposure to English.

My students come to school each day excited to learn and to see what the day has in store for them.

The students come from varied family situations including some who live with grandparents, and some who live with other relatives. I am always looking for ways to keep my students excited about their learning and ways to give them many possibilities in their educational experiences.

My Project

These lap desks will allow my students to complete their work in various areas of the classroom. They would be able to work in an area that is comfortable for them and their learning style. I have students with various needs and the lap desks will help me meet their needs by giving them choice and opportunities to learn in a way they will learn best.

As adults, we don't like to sit in the same spot, day after day, so this project will give my students flexibility about where to work in the classroom.

The lap desks could be used for a small group that is working on a project or even for a student that just wants to work alone. The possibilities are endless, but the idea is the same: the students are working and learning all around the classroom!
