Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is an environment that promotes learning, creativity, and inquiry. You will find a place that is rich with learning materials such as games, books, manipulative's, and even our class pet, Superman (turtle). I want to use everything I can to foster growth in each of my students.
My school is located in an urban school district outside of Chicago that is one of the largest school districts in the county.
It is an elementary school that houses about 700 students. We service a very diverse population of students. The majority of them come from homes where English is their second language. Our school is considered Title One which means most of student population comes from a low, socio-economic background. Although my students may not come from the most structured home life, they are very eager to learn. They are all more that capable of doing things that students are doing in more affluent communities.
My classroom currently has twenty very inquisitive student minds that are eager to learn and experience new things. They are also very creative and surprise themselves sometimes at what they are able to create.
My Project
I want my students to be exposed to everything available that will enhance their educational experiences. By having our very own set of iPads in our classroom, this will provide an array of opportunities with technology for my students. My plan is to expose them to all types of new activities and tools to use with the iPads. I want them to bring there writing to life by producing movies and explore using graphics with animation. I also want them to be able to use QR codes for different workshop activities. I want them to increase their technical vocabulary, by using the iPads. They will understand what a app is or how to navigate through a website better.
We live in world today that is driven by technology. I want my students to be prepared and well versed in all things technology, so that they will able to compete in an ever evolving world. This type of exposure while young, will also aid in the college readiness of my students.
By donating to my classroom, you will be impacting the lives of so many students that truly deserve these types of tools in their classroom.
You will be helping me to evoke new learning and creativity in them. You will also be helping to build confidence in my students by allowing them the opportunity to have access to these tools in our classroom.
