My students need a variety of different text passages in card kits to read and questions to help build their understanding of what they have been reading.
My students long for the opportunities to explore a variety of different stories both fiction and nonfiction.
I have a classroom full of 19 brilliant 2nd grade minds hungry to read, dig, and explore both made-up and real-life stories.
These kids come from a large variety of backgrounds, but the majority of our classroom and school district are from low income families. Every day many of my students come to school knowing it is the safest they will feel all day, and that they will have heat and full bellies while they are at school. But, my students are resilient, they are strong, and on top of all that, they are smart and driven to succeed. With your help my students will work towards that success they so desire to reach.
My Project
These resources we are requesting will help the students become not only better readers because they can read the words on the page, but they will become better readers because they will dig through what they have read to recall the information that the stories have provided them to become better readers as well. My students will be able to become more fluent in their reading, meaning they will be able to read the words with a nice smooth flow and it will be easier for them to read through different types of texts to gather information automatically with all the different passages.
Your donations will help give my students a huge variety of different stories and text passages to explore and allow them tons of opportunities to become better readers.
These materials will give my students the chance to succeed not only in 2nd grade, but in life as well. Through your donation my students will be given the chance to read for information and expand their knowledge in different content areas as well as use their imaginations to expand on what they are reading.
