My Students

This year everything looks different. My classroom looks different, my student desks look different, my teaching looks different, even my face looks different (covered with a mask). But, with all of the different things that came with this new school year, one thing remains true. I am so lucky to be the teacher to these AMAZING students who are so willing and ready to learn! Our schools were shut down in March, and returned to school this fall in a blended learning set up where students are only physically at school twice a week. The remainder of their week is at home learning. This has been challenging on every single level and has made us all adapt and change in ways I don't think we could have ever imagined. With all of these changes, I am trying my best to make sure my students still have what they need while adhering to all of the new guidelines to keep them safe.

My Project

My document camera gets turned on and off at least ten times a day. We use it all the time so that students can see what I am writing, highlighting, or marking. It is truly the MOST used thing on my desk! My students and I went from a hybrid learning model to full remote last week and the biggest challenge has been allowing them to see what I am doing as I am doing it. I have tried using multiple computers, projecting things on the board using my desktop's document camera, making Google slides and typing, and even tried using my iPad to make it work. But nothing compares to letting my students see what and how I am doing things in real time. This USB document camera would allow me to show them and teach them the way that we are all used to to make this learning at home time go a bit more smoothly.
