My Students

I love watching my students faces when they visually see things they are learning. It's like a light bulb goes off. My students are very limited in their educational experiences due to intellectual and behavioral difficulties. I have 15 students who are in grades 6-8. They are Intellectually Disabled, Blind, Autistic, and/or Speech and Language Impaired.

My students learn through all different modalities.

They are very visual and learn best when they can see what they are learning and when they can physically be involved.

Science is such a great way to promote learning through the use of visual experiences and hands on activities. It can tend to be very abstract. My students are very concrete when it comes to learning. They learn best when things are broken down into more manageable parts and when they can visualize what the learning is about.

My Project

Science is such a great way to promote learning through the use of visual experiences and hands on activities. The focus of this project is for students to participate in visual, hands on Science activities while also learning academic skills (Reading, Science, Social Studies and Math).

Hands-on learning provides a fun and engaging way for students to gain an understanding of difficult concepts.

In order to make the learning experience more visual, as well as hands on for my students, additional funds are necessary. Classroom materials that help prepare students for their Science experiences would greatly enhance their learning. Materials that are colorful and simple would be a great addition.

Students will be able to observe and investigate science. Students will have meaningful learning experiences when learning is engaging and fun.
