My Students

We are a gifted and talented school in New York City. My first grade classroom is very rigorous and academically driven. That doesn't mean, however, that we don't know how to have fun!

My students are an amazing group of children.

They are like a sponge where they want to absorb as much knowledge as possible. They are inquisitive and enthusiastic. Since they are in a gifted and talented program, all of them are avid readers. Any free time that they have, they can be seen with a book in their hand! They are also incredibly creative. During choice time, they love to use their imagination to build extravagant structures with blocks, pattern blocks, or Magna-tiles.

My Project

Having an Elmo document reader will be a very useful tool in my classroom. Many of my students are visual learners and being able to project assignments on the board will help them tremendously. The use of an Elmo in the classroom is endless. I would love to project a student's work on the board (i.e. their math sheet) and have the student teach the class how they solved the problem. During read aloud, I can place the book under the Elmo and have students be able to follow along with me as I read to them. I would also love to show our science experiments on the Elmo presenter so that all the students can see it clearly. I often hear students complain that they can't see (specially the ones that sit in the back) so being able to project it under the Elmo will allow everyone to see clearly and stay engaged!

I am a strong believer in technology and its positive impact on education.

Having an Elmo Visual Presenter will give my students another tool to help them learn and keep them engaged. Using a visual presenter in the classroom will revolutionize the way I teach and the way my students learn. Using a document camera in my classroom daily will take me and my students to a whole new level of teaching and learning!
