My students need a printer, so they can print their essays and edit them.

My Students
My students are incredibly motivated and love to learn. Our school is located in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, which is typically in the news for less than ideal reasons. In contrast, there is good in Englewood, and we see our school as a gem of the community. Our students surpass expectations each year by overcoming poverty and violence to eventually be admitted into some of our nations' most prestigious colleges.
For the current school year, all my students are either in AP or Honors Language and Composition.
These are classes that focus on college level writing.
My Project
What an excited year for my students! As 11th graders in Language and Composition courses, my students are learning to write college level essays; we will conclude the year with writing personal statements for college applications! Thanks to wonderful past donors, we received laptops, so my class could type, instead of handwrite, their essays.
We could use a classroom printer for students to print their essays!
People are prone to scanning writing when it’s on a screen; this results in many missed errors. Seeing tangible printed drafts helps students focus their attention on every word, which is so important in learning from mistakes and growing! I hope my students will see that writing is a process, and their mark-ups in editing will help them see the evolution of their work.
