This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -- Benjamin Franklin By using technology to encourage student participation, learning will be less intimidating and easier to grasp. My students will be more engaged and attentive to the subject matters taught.

My students are enthusiastic 5th graders who are excited for their final year in elementary school.

They are bursting with energy to have a strong year and are highly motivated to learn. Their positive attitude enables them to be hard workers and well behaved. My class is made up of 35% English Language Learners which has me using various teaching methods to help them learn the English language along with the other 5th grade standards, including the Common Core. I have students with learning disabilities and visual impairments, so having technology in the classroom will help. This year, we are limited to various supplies and classroom furniture, but we don't let that get in the way of learning. The students learn to be flexible and creative in how they achieve academic success!

My Project

My students learn together as a whole group while seated at their desks for various lessons and engage in meaningful discussions. Using an ELMO document camera and an Epson PowerLite LCD projector will allow me to teach and show my students in detail what I'm doing. The flexibility of this camera will allow me to put anything underneath, such as a piece of art work and even science experiments. We will also connect our class laptop to the projector to show various power point presentations, digital prints and videos, and the use of the Internet. The use of both technologies will allow my students to see clearly and follow along. I also prefer to have my students involved when using the document camera - whether for math, language arts, or social studies. Students will be able to display their own work using the camera for the class to see. My students thrive at the chance of sharing their work with others!

This donation will positively impact each of my students' lives, including my English Language Learners, those with visual impairments, and my students with learning disabilities.

The ability to see what I'm teaching on the screen by using the document camera and projector will improve their attentive skills and allow them to follow along as I teach a lesson. The behavior of my students will improve as they will be engaged and on task. Everyone will be able to see clearly now!
