Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a group of 20 enthusiastic first graders who walk into school, excited to begin a day of reading, exploration, and fun! Walking through our classroom's door you'll hear chatter and laughter, which is actually the sound of learning.
I work in a classroom filled with 20 motivated, enthusiastic, smart and most often, silly, six year olds.
My students are budding readers and writers and come to school eager to learn. I work at a Title I school, where the majority of our students receive free and reduced-cost lunch. My students come to school with a wide range of experiences and abilities but what they have most in common is their desire to learn.
My Project
Through the donation of guided reading books, students will have the opportunity to practice their reading on a daily basis. Students will use reading strategies that they have learned throughout the year and apply them to their own reading. They will develop their fluency and decoding skills. These books will encourage them to practice more and become better readers!
First graders love to read and they need more books that are grade level appropriate.
These books are the perfect addition to the classroom to better develop their reading skills. Both my students and myself are looking forward to more books in the classroom!
