Books can take you anywhere! Students need as many books as possible at their fingertips, and e-readers allow just that! With e-readers my students will have thousands upon thousands of books right on their level and just a click away!
I teach an AMAZING group of second graders on the South Side of Chicago.
These kids have been through more life events than any one person should experience, and they are only 9 years old!
My students have incredible vibrant personalities and they absolutely devour new information!
Even though they don't always have access to the things they need (even food and clothing can be hard to come by for some of my kids), they still come to school each day ready to learn with an excited smile!
My Project
We have recently been chosen for a technology pilot program and will have access to a program called MyON, which is a virtual library with thousands of books for kids!
Our students will use the Kindle tablets daily to access books and read during our reading block.
They will also be able to use the Kindles during free choice time and centers to access education apps.
Literacy is the number one indicator of future success.
