it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember sitting in a kindergarten class? Or a first grade classroom? Things have changed! My young students are active and enjoy having stations. I would like to have a listening center as an activity my students can visit daily. I love listening to audiobooks and would like my students to love this, too.
My kindergarten and first grade students come from low income families and need exposure to different language arts activities.
My students are active and enjoy exploring. A listening center will make then love books. They will want to visit this center every day which will be great! My students need a listening center and a set of listen & read sing-alongs to improve literacy.
My Project
My students will use the listening center daily. The audiobooks will Introduce students to books above their reading level, model good interpretive reading, teach critical listening highlight the humor in books, introduce new genres that students might not otherwise consider, introduce new vocabulary or difficult proper names or locales, and sidestep unfamiliar dialects or accents, Old English, and old-fashioned literary styles. The audiobooks will also provide a read-aloud model, a bridge to important topics of discussion for parents and children who can listen together while commuting to sporting events, music lessons, or on vacations.
The donations will improve my classroom by giving low income students an opportunity to read in a fun environment.
My students will begin to read more, therefore learning more and more each day.
