Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning we start off the day with greeting each child individually as they arrive. We want children to believe in themselves and know that they are all very important in our hearts. We want them to enjoy school and know that they are loved.
Our classroom is a Preschool Special Day Class serving children 3- to 5-year-olds with special needs.
It is our goal to help children develop to their full potentials.
We are determined to provide an enriching environment for children to learn in fun and loving ways. A lot of our children are learning to communicate. We work very hard to create a language rich environment where children are encouraged to communicate throughout the school day using different modalities.
My Project
A trampoline brings a fun and unique experience to student's development in their gross motor skills and sensory processing. Our students with special needs often have difficulty in participating in gross motor activities with their peers or have difficulty regulating their senses to function in the classroom.
By having a trampoline in the classroom, students with these needs will have access to reduce sensory overload whenever they feel overwhelmed by their environment and could learn to access the trampoline to regulate their sensory processing.
For many of our students with gross motor needs, they can develop their balance and strength with controlled and modified activities with the use of a trampoline in the classroom.
By donating to our classroom, our students will have the chance to better develop their gross motor skills and reach a functioning level of regulation on a daily basis!
Without the trampoline, it is difficult to provide opportunities specific to gross motor and sensory processing needs for our students. The accessibility to a trampoline will provide students with an outlet to be able to progress and develop their gross motor skills. A trampoline will also provide our students an outlet to regulate their functioning to participate in school activities and be able to follow the school routine.
