Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Do you remember your first grade experience? My students are in the second month of first grade and are beginning to read! Our listening center is totally out dated and not functioning properly.

My school is a title one school with a large population of African American and Latino students.

We service approximately 500 students from grade K-5. We have 3 special education classrooms that mainstream their students in the regular classroom setting. Our students are eager learners!

My Project

I want my students to feel good about their classroom and be motivated to learn. I would like a new listening center and books on tape or cd to help them as they are beginning readers! I am asking for a new rug for my classroom because I teach first grade students and we do a lot of activities on the carpet. My students always ask why the carpet looks so old and dirty!

This project will really motivate the students to participate in group activities to develop their reading.

I just know when my students see the new books and listening center they will be excited to listen to a story! And this will definitely foster their reading development!
