Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach third grade in a Chicago public school with a student poverty level of 89%: most of which are minority students. Some of my students' parents must work two or even three jobs in order to make a living. Due to their work schedules, these parents are unable to assist their children with fun learning activities: visits to museums, library, etc.. I would like to lessen some of the burden on my students' parents by promoting a fun way of learning and building self-esteem. I am asking for, "Take-Home Learning Packs" for my students. They will be able to check them out from the classroom based on a reward system. For example, if the child did their best and turned in all their homework, at the end of the week he/she will have the opportunity to check-out one the these fun packs! My students will benefit from reading and learning about various topics with these packs. They will certainly feel excited and have something fun to do at home! Their parents will also have the opportunity to get involved as they read together! I will also be able to incorporated some of these packs in our Learning Centers for all to enjoy! So please help us to add a little bit of fun into our classroom by donating a set of "Take-Home Learning Packs" and a "Take-Home Pack Storage Rack" from Lake shore Learning Materials This will surely promote a positive learning environment and help to improve my students' confidence level! My students and I will certainly appreciate your genorosity!!!
