Mrs. Robertson from Memphis TN is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the 2 IPOD touches to use in the language arts rotation as well as the mathematics rotation.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Can you remember a time when you were unable to read, write or learn various math concepts? Some of my children still cannot master these basic concepts.
I teach first grade in a full inclusive classroom in an elementary school in Tennessee.
The majority of the children live in a single parent home. Some of them are special needs children, who have a limited language capability due to their hearing impairment. The rest of the children are "regular" education students. This is a Title 1 school where 70% of the children receive free or reduced lunch. They are very active and enjoy playing video games. They are eager to learn.
The students are very active. Not many things can keep their attention like a video game can do in the classroom. They will be able to utilize the ipod touches in the language arts rotation by practicing reading skills via games on this new technology. They will learn to correctly form letters which is very beneficial for the special needs children. The ipod will accommodate the various ability levels by allowing the children to choose the games they are to practice that focuses on their particular reading skill that we are working on that week. The ipod touches will be beneficial in the mathematics rotation because again I am able to meet the diverse learning abilities by having the various levels of games loaded on the ipods. I believe this new technology will empower the children to want to learn more in school. They will also be giving the newest technology in the palm of their hands to help them move into the 21st century!
I need these IPOD touches to empower these children to be more active participants in their education.
This will be a tool that will motivate the children to want to come to school to learn. Using these IPOD touches will ensure that I meet every child at their instructional levels and move them forward to reach a higher level.
