My Students
My students are strong, smart, brilliant and fiercely independent. All of my students desire to do things like their peers despite facing different challenges. Each day they come to school with a smile on their face ready to work harder than nearly any other child their age.
Our discovery class is made up of a wide range of children with exceptionalities, who bring immense joy and inspiration to their school community.
Our school has a set of core values that all children strive to display throughout the school day and my students are able to not only display them but model them for all those around them.
My Project
The items requested in this project are aimed at giving my students independent practice to help them generalize skills of personal and academic independence. Some of these items are also to replace items in our class that have been well loved, frequently used and completely worn out.
"I can do it myself" is one of the most common phrases heard in our classroom everyday.
Each of my students craves independence in both personal and academic tasks. They want to learn to do things just like their peers. As their teacher I know the sky is the limit for them and it is my job to teach them the skills it takes to get there.
