Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 20 kindergarten children in a high poverty area in New Mexico. Our school is Title I, and 100% of our student population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students are English Language Learners.

Our school focuses on collaboration and learning among the students by using Kagan structures.

My students are bright and love to learn new things that will keep them engaged in their learning. They are excited to work with new tools to help them explore through hands-on experiences and through play. I'm excited to help them grow to their fullest!

My Project

We are just getting started with our distance learning. We see our students for three hours each day and we would like to make learning as engaging and hands on as possible. Young students need tactile tools to help them learn and grow.

In order to help students with writing at home our kindergarten grade level wants to give each student play-doh and side-walk to chalk to help with creating letters, numbers, objects to count and writing in a fun way.

This project is a group effort. We will distribute these materials to our students during the month of September. I love sharing resources with my colleagues! We'll get through this time if we work together.
