My Students

Theater is the ultimate hands-on classroom. Not only are students on stage they are also the builders of our sets.

Students at our schools come from very challenging backgrounds.

We have 72% Free and Reduced Lunch and many of our kids struggle with extreme poverty. Our building was built in the early 60s and has not been updated since. The facilities are lacking many basic aspects of a functioning theater. Many Theater students specifically come to the performing arts as an outlet, a way of escape. Our program provides opportunities for students to be featured on stage and gives them a new way to confidently approach all of the challenges in their life.

My Project

Our students will be using this saw to build sets for our school plays. There are tons of real world skills that our kids will learn while they use this tool. It will be huge for them to work with such high quality equipment. We have a few tools but this will take our program to the next level.

Giving our kids access to this equipment will help them build real world skills.

Having a way to connect to school even if it is through extra curricular set building can make all the difference in a students education.
