My students need Botley the Coding Robot and Action Challenge Accessory Pack in order to think outside the box. The student would be using problem-solving skills and having fun at the same time. Using technology.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a fabulous Title I School with a wonderful principal that is hands-on and visible to all the students. She was the person behind making our school a community-based school. A school that would serve the community as a whole. It starts by helping the family getting access to the services they need. With that in mind, I work with my students in meeting their academic gaps. Our school implements weekly STEAM Clubs which the whole school participates on Mondays along with a yearly parent science night and technology night. We will like to include more coding in our STEAM Clubs. The more options the students have the more opportunities.
100% of our students participate in free and reduced lunch.
The school currently runs a weekend food backpack to provide for the students over the weekend. As a school, we are the first in our state to become a community-based school that provides these resource for parents and students. The school provides early weekly literacy classes for future kindergarten students, medical care, job search, and referral to behavioral health services. This has been a great hit because by helping the family you are helping the child.
My Project
I am requesting four sets of Botlet Robot Coding. I want to the student to expereince coding at a simple level. My students are familiar with technology and use it often with the one to one ipad. I would like to expand on that with coding. They will have the opportunity to control a robot using math skills they learning in the classroom. The students will be able to understand why math, reading and science is so important at such a young age. They are amazed with technology but not how to create it themselves. I would love to be able to get the basic into there little hands and give them the expereince.
I will be learning along with the students how to program Botlet the Robot?
This experience will be fun. From previous experience, I have learned that trial and error are best when learning about something along with the students. I am amazed at some of the things we learn together. My students will not have this expereince unless they are exposed to them in the classroom. Their eager little minds are little sponges that simply ready to learn.
We are also planning a fun family science night, that this would go great. The students are able to teach their parents, what that they are learning in these STEAM clubs they attend every Monday. Science night was a hit last year and we are dreaming and making it better this year.
