This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Help our mission to support teen girls who are trauma survivors by funding an amazing group that offers a sanctuary for healing and empowerment for our participants. Our students named the group ICU, which is a play on words with double meanings. ICU, the specialized medical trauma unit in a hospital, and IC(see)U let students know that they and their trauma are not invisible.
Every day, individuals struggle with the aftermath of traumatic experiences, feeling isolated and misunderstood.
Teens often have a difficult time in school because traumatic experiences impact learning, focus, and behavior. They often feel invisible, like no one understands them, or hopeless that they are "broken."
The ICU girls' group provides specialized therapeutic support, fostering resilience and recovery. Our girls learn about trauma in an age-appropriate manner and how to cope. They also learn mindfulness skills and find their voice through individual and group activities with school social workers.
Your contribution will help us expand these services, reach more students impacted by trauma, and cover essential costs such as professional counseling and educational materials.
