Please help me give my students books that reflect their images and experiences. For example, I Am Enough shows my students that they are worthy of love and respect, regardless of their origins.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in several urban schools with students from wonderfully diverse backgrounds. I want the books we read during our social work sessions to reflect who they are and what they experience.
I wish all my students to feel affirmed in what they bring to this world, including within their racial and ethnic groups and identities.
Through our shared experience reading these books, I hope to ensure that a dialogue develops, which will allow a safe space for my students to discuss any identity challenges they face in their communities.
