Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of the population my school serves is experiencing generational poverty. Many of them come from single parent families. These students have little exposure to academics. Many young children can only sing the ABC song from memory; however, are unable to identify individual letters or their sounds not to mention a quarter, nickel, or dime. I want to expose them to fun learning opportunities.
My students are developmentally delayed in some areas like communication, and learn in concrete ways.
I teach the intensive students that are scoring the lowest in our school, and they usually need a variety of presentations with oral being the least effective. Every student deserves to find interest in learning.
My Project
My little ones are not able to say "I want a cookie." They need to see it with a visual or the object to know cookie means cookie. Help me bring this project to life so we can get our Pre-K students leaning and talking for high interest motivators.
Three and Four year olds will work for a sweet treat!
We have snack time daily and some do not bring anything. This situation often leads to food stealing and other inappropriate behaviors. While we do try to teach sharing it is not an acceptable practice within our district. Help our families by providing snack and other motivating options to our students.
