My Project

Personal hygiene is a basic need that we see many times in our school not being met for students. The right to be clean is a fundamental physiological need and is paramount to physical and mental health. According to research conducted by The Hygiene Bank, it can have a great and long-lasting impact on the development of school-aged children.

We hope to assist students, in our K-8 school, facing hygiene poverty with a consistent supply of basic toiletries.

We have a closet waiting to be stocked with donated hygiene products in a supervised, but easy to access, office where students will be able to retrieve these items as needed. School staff will also have access to the closet to discreetly provide students with any items they might request.

When students can focus on learning in the classroom and not fear possible bullying or isolation by peers, embarrassment, anxiety, low self-esteem, or shame due to varying hygiene obstacles, they can start to take the important steps towards their full academic potential.
