My students need these supplies so they will be able to get in the habit of healthy living and see the importance of being clean. This will give them some peace of mind.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend an inner city Title 1 school. Our school has a substantial amount of low income and ESL students. Most of my students face daily struggles with more responsibility than an 11 or 12 year-old should need to experience. Most take care of their younger siblings and have nobody to help them. Some of them live at the homeless shelter. However, my students come every morning with smiles on their faces and ready to start the day. They enjoy school and are excited to learn new things.
I've had to help them by getting the basic hygiene supplies such as toothpaste and deodorant.
Now I'm asking for some more help. My students don't understand they need to wash everyday or brush their teeth. As a sixth grade teacher, I'm trying to teach the curriculum and the basic needs of living a healthy life style. The families in my school simply cannot afford toothbrushes over food.
My Project
With these supplies my students will be able to get in the habit of healthy living and see the importance of being clean. They won't have to worry about being the smelly kid at school, or who's going to make fun of them. They can come to school with one less worry, and feel good about themselves. In turn, this will help their learning because they can focus on something positive.
Nobody will be afraid to enter.
They will know they are here to learn and have the confidence to hold their head high, and won't have to worry about getting too close to someone because they haven't been able shower for a week. Each student will be able to go home with deodorant, a toothbrush, and toothpaste.
