Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is for my 5th graders for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. Because I teach in a title 1 school, we have many students who come to school with physical hygiene needs for a variety of reasons. I want all my students to feel successful every day. This can be hard to do when they don't feel their best physically.
I know it may sound cliche but "when you look good, you feel good." When we feel good about the way we look, our confidence and self-esteem increase, and we are more likely to feel positive emotions such as happiness and contentment.
I would like my students to be able to grab a personalized bag, go to the restroom, and take care of those needs; whether it be from brushing and flossing their teeth to wiping down their body or simply fixing their hair, in order to tap into those positive emotions.
