My Project

My kiddos are currently navigating (and crushing) seventh grade. The return to in-person learning was a change. Pair it with transitioning into a new school. As a result, our kids have worked to handle a series of changes, emotions, and pressures. What I love most about my kids is their comfort in sharing what they need from me as a teacher—snacks and hygiene products for days when they forget to pack their own. Games and books that they can use during advisory to help them relax during the school day.

Navigating seventh grade brings many stresses to our children.

Newly introduced menstrual cycles should not be one of them. These materials will allow my students access to menstrual kits they can keep, refill and customize to their choosing. The canvas pouches will be packed with Dove, Kotex, and Tampax products. Students will always be able to keep their pouches to have a pack of materials in their backpacks. These products will also remain in our class supply closet for emergency days.

Healthy snacks are what our students deserve! Many students crave sugar-packed snacks, but I aim to provide students with healthy snacks that taste great. Granola bars, Bare Baked fruit chips, and Black Forest fruit snacks will allow my students to get a much-needed refuel during study hall after school.

Keeping our classroom clean and sanitized is a task both students and I have taken on as a team as we continue to navigate in-person learning and the pandemic. Replenishing classroom cleaning supplies will help ensure my students feel safe and cared for as they finish out the year strong.

Book raffles have allowed me to increase student motivation for independent reading. Based on class votes, "New Kid" and "When You Trap A Tiger" would great for the upcoming book raffle.
