This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Three years ago I started a school based food pantry. I send home 2 bags of food with each family. The bags contain basic pantry staples like rice, dried beans, oil, and pasta.

The families appreciate what I give them but regularly ask for shampoo, soap and other hygiene products.

Some of the most requested items are hygiene products. The families regularly ask for soap, shampoo and toothpaste, as well as diapers and toiletries. I would like to be able to give them these items on a regular based but the funding I currently have doesn't allow for that.
