My Project
Hello! Our school in East Austin is attempting to expand our gardens to serve the surrounding community, especially the low income housing complex immediately across the street from our school. We are working with volunteers at the University of Texas to expand our garden beds, chicken coops, and community access areas to provide a community service in the form of a community garden providing healthy foods and a living pantry!
Please help us purchase this hydroponics kit so that we can work with families in our area to teach them how to grow fruits and vegetables from seeds and transplant them to our community garden space.
This hydroponics kit is an extremely efficient way to sprout large numbers of vegetables and we are trying to purchase it in order to expand the community services our campus offers to our neighbors.
Students will use this resource to sprout seedlings for use in an expanded community garden project that will benefit both our campus and our immediate neighbors while also supporting environmentalism and transforming an area by our campus that is currently an eyesore into a space supporting life and providing community benefits and access. Our immediate community in central East Austin is a historically disadvantaged neighborhood with a large housing complex and no grocery store or other community gardens within walking distance.
