This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Our school is dedicated to not only learning about the environment, but participating in action projects that address the issues related to climate change. We have built an entirely grant-funded indoor water lab dedicated to growing food in a controlled environment and dispersing food to the low-income community. However, we still need to replace consumables and sustain our lab over the summer to continue our mission of service learning.
This summer, we will host a summer camp on Monday-Thursday for the entire month of June for incoming and returning students.
These students will be responsible for water testing, growing crops, harvesting, and yielding. As a public school with no entrance requirements, we service over 98% of students who are minority or low-income, giving them skills in growing crops and fish without the need for soil and land; the future of farming. Help us with materials to continue our service learning
