My Students
I work at a Title I school in Virginia that is predominately African American. Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. The challenges that some of the students face at home are unimaginable for adults to comprehend. Every year, at least half of the students have experienced some type of trauma during the course of their lives. However, they are very courageous young people who persevere through the many challenges and traumas that they have experienced in their lives.
Despite all of the negativity that may be in their lives, they continue to come to school every day and learn.
They are eager to learn and enthusiastic about the possibilities of the school year.
The possibilities for my students are endless. It is my job to get them closer to their dreams and aspirations. They are truly amazing young people with bright futures.
My Project
Due to Covid 19, the students at my school do not have access to the traditional water fountains. They are required to use a water bottle at the different hydration stations at our school.
I want to give each student in my school a water bottle that they can use daily to stay hydrated.
The brain functions better when the body is hydrated. So it is important for all students to drink water throughout the day.
Our school district provided water bottles in the beginning of the school year. However, those bottles have been damaged or lost.
