This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The dancers of our school are a phenomenal group of 10th-12th graders who train daily to hone their skills. As students in a career technical education program, my students declare themselves as dance majors. These learners are physically expressive, socially conscious, and creative individuals. As a community we view education and art-making as tools for empowerment, self-reflection, and social change.

This project is near and dear to my heart because my dancers are constantly asking for bottles of water in my dance class, and I frankly can't keep up with the demand to keep a supply stocked. Without water, my students are fueling up after class with other sugary beverages or not drinking at all. It is more important than ever moving into the 2023-2024 school year to empower my dancers to care for their bodies. I am requesting a class set of water bottle to supply an insulated container for them to store water. I was intentional about selecting a container that is both leakproof and compact enough to fit in their school bags, both of which were barrier that my students expressed to bringing water with them to school.The additional materials will be used to customize the water bottles with their names and our dance department logo, to avoid and confusion of whose bottle is present.
