My Students

My students are amazing, marvelous and challenging on many levels. They come to school excited, eager to experience an exciting lesson. I often refer to them jokingly as “challenging customers” that refuse to accept second best. As I try my best to provide excellent customer service to my clientele, I find that it is never enough to just teach.

It is a journey to discover how best to serve every single one of my students and get them ready for college and for life and I am enjoying the ride.

Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success. As I observe them interact with one another, enthused in a lesson, I regain my conviction that a future is possible and achievable for all my students.

My Project

“Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly, you are doing the impossible," said Francis of Assisi. This has been one of my guiding quotes as an educator. There is so much we can do but once we start with the little thing, it gives us the power to accomplish the impossible.

After watching my students at their basketball game, I had a great eye-opener.

The students-athletes are doing something extraordinary. They are keeping up with their grades and practicing hard to represent their school.

After speaking with the basket ball coaches and the students, I realized that hydration is a very important part of playing sports and staying healthy. I am making it my mission to supply them with their hydrating needs.

With the Gatorade, Powerade, and water, they will be unstoppable on and off the field.
