My Students

This year my students are facing challenges that no one could have imagined in previous years. This year my school district is starting the first nine weeks completely virtual. Beginning the year virtually has been difficult for both the adults and the students. However, my students have approached each day with eagerness to learn, and excitement to participate on Zoom.

Due to the challenges we are facing this year, I want to make sure my students have engaging and interactive lessons.

To do this, I want to make sure that we start the year with essential materials for virtual learning. I also want to make sure that all of my fifth graders feel a part of a learning community, even if we are not together in the classroom.

My Project

This school year began with challenges for educators, students, and parents. Many of us began the year unsure of where our actual classroom would be. My school district decided that the first nine weeks would be held virtually. In the past month of school, I have been greeted each and every day with smiling fifth graders eager to begin our day on Zoom. As our first nine week come to an end, we are all nervous and excited to start our next chapter, hybrid learning.

In a few weeks, I will be teaching both in-person and virtual students at the same time.

I want to make sure that all of my students feel included and apart of the classroom as we make this transition. This project will allow me to communicate with all of my students at the same time. Being that I will have to wear a mask while teaching, the Bluetooth headset will help my virtual students hear me clearly. The projector screen along with the laptop stand will allow me to project my virtual students to the screen. This will give more access to move around my classroom.

One of my main goals this year is for my students to experience fifth grade with the same engaging and interactive lesson they would have before the pandemic. This project will help me reach that goal.
