My classroom consists of 20 eager students who are passionate and driven to learn. I'm looking to build strong literacy skills in my scholars so they have strong foundational skills on which to build in years to come.
Hurricane Maria has greatly impacted our school community.
There are several students who are learning a new language for the first time. I need the necessary tools to help bridge those language gaps and become a more effective teacher for those students.
My school has one of the largest bilingual populations in Orange County. We have welcomed many displaced students from Puerto Rico. Many students are learning and reading in English for the first time.
My Project
A mobile storage rack will help to provide more flexibility in our classroom. With 20 students, seating during small groups can be challenging as classroom space is limited. A mobile storage rack will allow the flexibility I need to be able to move things around the room as needed without sacrificing time when transitioning from center to center.
A reading rug will allow students the ability to sit comfortably on the floor while being engaged in reading.
Sitting comfortably where and how they choose, students are more likely to become engaged with the text.
Privacy partitions will increase student focus and engagement during assessments. This will likely increase test scores as students will be less inclined to interact with their neighbors.
