My Students

Once we had the typewriter to do work in school, then came computers and they opened so many new doors but my students computers are not working anymore. These computers are outdated and over ten years old. My students with Autism and multiple disabilities need chrome books so they can learn and grow.

I know I hate it when a computer is slow but when its ancient and slow, it is even worse.

My classes are all self-contained groups of elementary and middle school students with Autism and Multiple Disabilities. Typically this includes students who are hyperactive, impulsive, and have trouble managing their anger. All these behaviors having an impact on my students ability to learn and some students also struggle with learning disabilities. My students with Autism and multiple disabilities have an extremely hard time working to meet our Common Core Standards but they have a harder time trying to do research and the computer not starting up fast enough, cant log into the internet quickly and waiting twenty minutes for something that should only take two. Well we need to have 21st century technology to support their learning! Up to date technology is so important for students. These Chrome books would be used all day long to reinforce, extend, or re-teach important concepts for students.

My Project

When your computer does not work, isn't it frustrating? Have we not all got mad when something takes to long to load on the screen? Well my students have problems waiting and attending but they have the ability to learn, we just need to provide them with the right tools. Having a disability is hard enough; not having the right materials to learn from is even harder. The Chrome books would help students reach their maximum potential by allowing them to do research, upload videos, do book reports all at there own level. This will promote learning and growth among all students. It will also put a smile on their face to have technology that will work! Many of our students have no access to technology or internet at home I would love if you could help me make my classroom into the place that will inspire and ignite their love for learning STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) as well as the various parts of literacy such as reading and writing.

I hope that you can be a part of the modernization that my students so desperately need.

My students do not receive adequate exposure to computers. They need to learn word processing and research skills Computers are motivating for children but technology is especially motivating for students with disabilities. My students need to use technology for their future and I want them to have technology now! I hope you will support my goal to support our students because they depend on donors like you.
