This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of the students in our school face all the daily challenges that come from being part of low-income families. Over ninety-five percent of our campus qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, which makes our campus Title I.

On top of being from low-income families, many of our students lost their homes during Hurricane Harvey.

Some were rescued by boat while others lived upstairs while flood waters rose in their houses. They need normal back in their lives.

Despite the difficult lives so many of them have, they are resilient. They are strong. They work hard and meet high expectations daily. At such a young age, many of them have already been through so much more than some people go through in a lifetime. They deserve everything we can give them and more.

My Project

Using a dry erase table at small group and in stations, with each other, will help to enhance student learning. Students absolutely love using dry erase markers and being able to use different colors when doing their station work. We also color code sentences for grammar, which they'll be able to do, right on the table! They'll need erasers at stations and in small group.

If their reading workstations are fun, students are more engaged and learning more.

As a teacher, anything I can use to make station time and small group time with me more fun and exciting, I'm all for it. Students will love using these tables to practice spelling words, sight words, writing sentences, and doing all kinds of word work.
