My students come from low income households, some who have been through some very traumatic events. They are resilient, strong, and overcoming. They are brilliant and amazing. My students are hands on learners who never cease to amaze me.
My classroom is a community, we work hard every day to keep each other safe and to be there to support one another.
We are a school family. My children work through problems together, they cheer each other on and build each other up, they try to make each other feel better when one is sad. They are truly kind tiny humans and I learn from them each day.
My Project
Our children are from low income homes. Our families many times do not have the means to buy basic supplies and now they are having to teach from home. This project would help our children expand their learning at home and give them materials to help them still feel connected to the classroom.
For most families, teaching from home is a huge challenge, this project would assist families in teaching and help to keep children interested in learning.
The games will help encourage family interaction and bonding. They will help teach children how to follow rules and take turns.
I did a virtual art class and I had a few children who couldn't participate because they didn't have paint at home. I don't want anyone to be left out or not be able to complete assignments because they don't have basic supplies. I want to give the children and families the best chance to be successful at home and to help alleviate some stresses. This is a very stressful time for everyone and this project can help brighten our families day when they receive it, help them still feel connected to our school family, and assist with their continued learning.
