My Project
My students are working on modified grade level curriculum. Part of their curriculum has them work on life skills such as following multi-step recipes. When working on recipes it is a great way to get students actively involved in putting healthy food in their bodies in a more fun and interactive way.
My classroom is a specialized program for students with Autism, and we know commonly with children with Autism nutrition is a difficult topic.
This is why we want to support food preparation in a more interactive way. They will work on measuring, cutting, mixing, and cooking healthy snacks each month. Our hope is to expand their variety of foods they are comfortable with eating while working on math and science standards. We will be able to tie school to real-world circumstances and prepare independence for their futures.
