Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is designed to support high school students by meeting a very real and immediate need—hunger—while also reinforcing the importance of attending class. Many of my students come to school without having eaten, and it’s hard to focus or stay motivated when you’re running on empty.
With this project, I plan to stock up on snacks like beef jerky, pretzels, animal crackers, popcorn, and other student-approved options that are also nourishing.
These snacks will serve a dual purpose: feeding students who are genuinely hungry and providing a positive incentive to attend and participate in class. It’s a small gesture that can have a big impact on engagement, focus, and morale.
I will continue replenishing snacks as needed throughout the year, using them consistently to support a welcoming, student-centered classroom culture. Your support will go directly toward helping students feel cared for, valued, and ready to learn. Thank you for considering this project—it means more than you know!
