My Students

I am trying to make health come alive for my students.

We are a small rural Oregon school with many needs.

I want to challenge and motivate these teens to take their health seriously and expand their knowledge of all health related subjects. Old textbooks are not enough for today's high school student. Reading is a huge challenge in my classroom.

My Project

Choices magazines are full of articles about health topics all teens can relate to. They contain great photos to catch the eye of even the toughest students I have. With this information my students can make wiser choices on a daily basis. There are not many good examples of people that lead healthy lives in this community.

The students will use these articles to jump start discussions and give them ideas for research projects.

These monthly magazines can make the difference between boring classes using old textbooks and an exciting, action-filled classroom. They will read more and this always helps in their total educational experience.
