This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
According to Maslov's hierarchy of needs, students are incapable of academic achievement if their basic needs are not met. I work in a low-income school where many students come to class hungry in the morning and are not able to focus on their learning. When these students come in, their options for receiving food are limited, for they usually have to wait hours before they can go to lunch and there is no opportunity to eat beforehand. I would like to be able to provide them with a quick snack to help fill them up and hold them over until they can eat a proper meal in the cafeteria. Hungry bellies can't learn!
