Our innovators are developing new mindsets that will embrace critical thinking, communication, creative thinking, citizenship, collaboration, and culture. They will have a guiding hand in defining their education while being problem-solvers in a flexible, educational setting. Building a community of global citizens is what we are excited about. Some of my students eat breakfast at 7:30 in the morning and work until lunch at 11:30, with dismissal not until 2:45. During those four hours, we are engaged in Mathematics and English/Language Arts instruction. Try keeping a group of 7- and 8-year-olds focused when all they want to know is when is lunch. So I am requesting a variety of snack items that my students will be able to have to begin this school year. I have tried my best to choose snacks that all students will enjoy during our brain breaks.
Hunger Pains Should Not Stop A Child From Learning!
Attending a STEM/STEAM school that incorporates performing arts, visual arts, coding, computer science, financial literacy, and social-emotional learning (SEL with Second Step program) gives our students the chance to explore who they are. Our urban school receives federal funding for programs that provide free breakfast/lunch for every student, and Title I services to economically disadvantaged boys and girls. Our inclusive class serves military families, gifted/talented students, ESL/ELL students, special education students, and tech-savvy students.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
