Mrs. Chambers from Beaumont TX is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need tablets so that they have access to online reading and various methods of research.

A hunger for books! My students are a group of resilient individuals with the thirst for learning. We are from the city of Beaumont, located in Texas. Resilient we are, we have experienced many setbacks this school year. With Hurricane Harvey, the closing of our school, the total loss of all of our supplies and now the future closing and merger of our school, we are indeed resilient. We have bounced back in more ways than one and have tried to succeed with the little books and technology that we have.
Many of my students are still displaced and are recovering from the storm.
We are a Title I School, where the majority of students are economically disadvantaged. My students ask for books on a day to day basis. We are currently without a library and class sets of novels. My goal is to have literature circles and stations in my class. To accomplish this, I would love for a center of 3 to 5 Kindles or iPads. This will give my students access to online novels and extension activities. This can open a world of literature and imagination for my students. Thank you in advance for the consideration.
Reading is fundamental! It can take you places you can only imagine. Reading is adventurous and allows my students the opportunity to forget their current situation due to Hurricane Harvey. My students need four iPads which will allow them the opportunity to access the internet due to the lack of technology and labs in our current situation.
With this project, my students will have the opportunity to work in literature stations and feed their hunger for literature.
My goal is to challenge them by creating online journals and research writing projects. If awarded, the old saying remains true, “For of those to whom much is given, much is required.”
